Where our experience is deepest.
Kalahari Trial Centre concentrates on the therapeutic areas most aligned with our patient population, infrastructure and the investigator's track record — from cardiology and metabolic disease to vaccines.
Cardiovascular research, well supported.
Cardiology is a core strength — reinforced by on-site ECG and Holter monitoring, access to echocardiography and stress testing, and referral relationships with the Windsor Cardiac Centre, Windsor Heart Institute and regional stroke clinics.
Investigator experience spans atrial fibrillation, coronary artery disease, peripheral vascular disease, stroke/TIA and hypertension, with the site ranked third-highest recruiter globally in the Bayer SEAFRONT cardiovascular trial.
Atrial Fibrillation / PVD / Previous Stroke or TIA
SEAFRONT program — third-highest recruiting site globally.
Atrial Fibrillation
ARISTOTLE (CV185-030).
Hypertension
BP CRUSH (CS8663-404).
An extensive, current record of obesity-medicine training — through the Obesity Medicine Association, McMaster Project ECHO and Ascend — makes this a standout area for the site.
Ready for the GLP-1 era.
Obesity is one of the site's most current and differentiated capabilities. The investigator maintains recent, indication-specific training in GLP-1 trials, patient engagement and retention, and the medical management of obesity.
Combined with proven retention strategies, this positions Kalahari Trial Centre strongly for weight-management and anti-obesity drug programs.
Metabolic research with lab access on site.
Diabetes and metabolic-disease studies are supported by in-building laboratory access, a centrifuge for sample processing and monitored cold-chain storage — reducing external dependencies during conduct.
The investigator's obesity and metabolic training complements this area, supporting programs across diabetes, weight and cardiometabolic risk.
From Phase I to late-phase respiratory trials.
Respiratory research is well represented in the investigator's history, including multiple asthma programs, COPD and Phase I healthy-volunteer work.
Asthma
MIAT (Andi-Ventis) and NEO 20 / NEO 038 (Neolab).
COPD
GSK (AC2110664).
Equipped for infectious-disease programs.
Infectious-disease experience includes community-acquired pneumonia and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). On-site sample processing and monitored cold-chain storage support the handling requirements typical of these studies.
RSV
NOPRODRSV4002.
Community-Acquired Pneumonia
Late-phase antibiotic program.
Post-Herpetic Neuralgia
Viral-sequelae study.
Cold-chain ready for vaccine programs.
Vaccine research depends on a reliable cold chain. Our −86 °C freezer with continuous alarm monitoring and 2–8 °C monitored refrigeration provide the temperature-controlled storage these programs require.
Combined with EMR pre-screening across a large primary-care population and IATA-trained staff, the site is well suited to vaccine and prevention studies.
